Position Title: Real Estate Loan Officer II
Reports to: Manager, Real Estate
Supervises: N/A
Job Status: Exempt
Job Grade 12: $61,397.42 thru $76,746.78 Targeted Pay
This position works on-site. Remote work is not available at this time.
Job Summary This employee is responsible for performing all lending functions and assisting in the efficient operation of the loan department, interviewing applicants for real estate loans processing applications. This employee gathers background information and analyzes loan applicant's credit history and approves or denies loan applications based on analysis of applicant's background (Must be in current position 24 months).

Duties/Responsibilities
Responsible for interviewing applicants for real estate loans and the processing of the applications so that a decision may be made for approval or denial of loan request. The processing includes documentation, analysis, approval/denial, closing, funding, loading, collections, etc. necessary to make a sound loan for the Credit Union.
Be thoroughly familiar with existing policies and procedures and assist other loan officers in the taking and processing of loan applications so that they may be in compliance with all policies, procedures and regulations.
Develop mortgage loan business through calls to realtors, contractors, and other institutions, and through member seminars.
Establish and monitor control procedures for first mortgage loan portfolio.
Perform loan reviews and audits as assigned by Chief Lending Officer to ensure quality, uniformity and compliance with established policies, procedures, and regulations. Prepare reports to Chief Lending Officer as to results of reviews.
Ensure that each real estate loan is processed accurately and thoroughly including application, appraisal, title work, etc.
Prepare mortgage loan application and document packet for closing.
Maintain Loan Exception Report detailing exceptions on loans and the status of the resolution on the exceptions.
Support and promote management plans, programs and objectives.
Maintain accurate records of insurance and taxes on real estate loans.
Monitor delinquent real estate loans and work with collection department regarding collection efforts on these loans.
Understand compliance issues & attends training as they relate to Real Estate Loan Officer, including, but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act; Reg P; Patriot Act and SAFE Act.
Performs all other assigned duties.
Qualifications
Advanced knowledge of real estate lending practices, mortgage products, and regulatory requirements.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Listens to understand others' viewpoints. Anticipates member needs and offers innovative solutions.
Able to clearly present issues - both orally and in writing.
Adjusts quickly to changing priorities and conditions. Copes effectively with complexity and change.
Competent in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Windows, and other software applications as appropriate, including experience with Loan Origination Systems.
Ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
Demonstrate patience, tact, enthusiasm and positive attitude toward all members and general public.
Job Related Travel - As required.
Education/Experience
Education or experience equivalent to an Associate's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field, in addition to 5 plus years' of progressively responsible experience in mortgage lending or similar.
Experience in a credit union or financial institution is preferred but not required.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
State of New Mexico Mortgage Loan Originator license (NMLS registerable)
General Requirements Must be capable to execute all terms and conditions set forth in the Employee Handbook, including but not limited to:
Work in a safety conscious manner which ensures that safe work practices are used in order not to pose a risk to self or others in the workplace.

Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Some standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, bending and lifting.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
