LHH has partnered with a high-growth energy company that is seeking a Technical Accounting Manager to join their team. The focus will be leading the evaluation, documentation, and implementation of accounting policies and standards while serving as a key advisor on GAAP, SOX, and IFRS. Responsibilities
Revenue Accounting Leadership : Analyze and interpret complex revenue contracts—such as milestone-based deals—ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and IFRS 15. Collaborate with FP&A and commercial teams to align revenue recognition with forecasts and evolving standards. Debt Accounting Oversight : Assess and document accounting treatments for new or modified debt instruments under IFRS 9, including fair value and amortized cost considerations. Tax Equity Expertise : Provide accounting guidance for tax equity structures like partnership flips and sale-leasebacks. Coordinate with Tax, Legal, and Project Finance teams to ensure alignment between financial and tax reporting. Lease Accounting Management : Supervise lease classification and valuation for both lessee and lessor arrangements under ASC 842 and IFRS 16. Capex Controls : Define and enforce capitalization policies for development and construction projects. Partner with Engineering and Operations to ensure accurate cost tracking and compliance with IFRS. SOX Compliance & Internal Controls : Lead SOX testing efforts, address deficiencies, and maintain technical accounting documentation. Collaborate with auditors and internal teams to ensure robust compliance. Financial Reporting Support : Assist in preparing quarterly and annual financial statements and audits. Act as a key liaison with external auditors and technical consultants. Policy Development : Draft and update internal accounting policies. Lead the adoption of new accounting standards and ensure consistent application across the organization. Qualifications
6+ years of experience in technical accounting. Preference for a blended background across public accounting and industry Accounting or Finance degree required; advanced degree and/or certifications preferred Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and internal controls Experience in utilities, infrastructure, energy, or other capital-intensive industries preferred Experience with publicly traded companies preferred Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills Proactive professional able to thrive in a fast-paced environment Excellent interpersonal skill able to articulate complex concepts clearly Benefits
