As the E&S Claims Manager, you will lead a team that handles Surplus Lines claims. This position reports to the Head of Primary Casualty Claims. You will manage a group of claims specialists with respect to technical claims handling, exceptional customer service, and business segment support, and help drive a performance culture of continuous improvement. Responsibilities
Oversee colleagues and claim processes related to liability, damages, coverage, exposure evaluation, reserving and resolution of claims in accordance with AXA XL’s Global Claims Handling Principles, service standards, and applicable regulations. This will primarily include bodily injury and property damage claims relating to commercial general liability, products, premises and other related exposures. Collaborate with the other Surplus Claim manager and the Head of Primary Casualty Claims, as well as Claims Legal, in the handling and resolution of claim files. Manage audits and ensure Financial Internal Controls (FIC) compliance across the team. Drive analytics and data development for Underwriting and Actuarial through identification and reporting on casualty claim trends. Collaborate with Underwriting teams in connection with claim issues and trends, lessons learned, review of policy/endorsement language, and marketing and business development activities. Provide excellent customer service to policyholders and brokers, and ensure the same high customer service standards are upheld by all colleagues. Partner with team members along with both internal and external counsel to manage litigation in an effective and cost-efficient manner. Identify strategic and tactical needs that can be solved through technology, process improvements, or training. Maintain close supervision of vendor management and expense control within the unit. Extensive technical background in Commercial Casualty claims: Advanced experience with handling and/or supervising Commercial Casualty claims. Proven ability to negotiate and settle large and complex claim files. Proven leadership skills: Advanced experience in managing claims handlers. Proven ability to develop employee talent, manage performance, and maintain engagement. Possesses analytical skills and sound judgment. Takes initiative and has the ability to work collaboratively. Dedication to customer service, including professionalism and diplomacy in broker and insured relations. Effective communication: Excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration, presentation and influencing skills. Able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of sophistication. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and efficiently juggle numerous concurrent responsibilities.
