Overview
The City of Napa seeks applicants for a
Community Relations and Media Analyst
in the City Manager's Office. The primary focus of this position is to support the
Community Relations and Media Manager
by fostering engagement between the City of Napa and the community we serve. The
Community Relations and Media Analyst
coordinates, analyzes, and implements communication plans and media strategies. This position will deliver high-quality communication services, execute accessible and transparent media campaigns, maintain compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations, and support the City’s vision of open government communications. Responsibilities
Manage content for the City’s social media, website, and intranet; work cooperatively with City departments to support their community outreach and marketing communications; develop and distribute internal and external notifications; prepare and/or review presentation material for the City Manager and other departments; draft media responses and press releases; collect and manage survey data for community and department surveys; coordinate events; act as the back-up Public Information Officer; and other community outreach related projects. Provide communications on the City’s behalf through interaction with residents, other government agencies, local business groups such as the Chamber of Commerce or Downtown Association, and many more. Be a proactive team player with strong communication and collaboration skills who excels at project management and working with a wide variety of stakeholders. Bilingual skills in English/Spanish are highly desirable, but not required for this position. Education and Experience
Two (2) years of broad and increasingly responsible experience in journalism, public information, or public relations; government communications experience is preferred. Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in journalism, marketing, communications, public relations or a related field. Special Requirements
Possession at time of hire and continued maintenance of a valid California Class C driver’s license is required. Willingness to travel to various locations within and outside the City limits and work flexible hours as needed. Competencies

Tentative panel interviews are scheduled to take place in-person on September 30, 2025. As part of the panel interview, candidates may be asked to complete a Practical Exercise to showcase creative abilities and public speaking skills.
