About the role The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer - Teaching & Research role is part of a broader strategy to strengthen education-focused academic capacity in the Discipline of Critical Care across the School, fostering excellence in clinical education and supporting the next generation of medical professionals. The role is central to delivering and sustaining the Discipline of Critical Care teaching program and the Undergraduate Medicine Program redesign, ensuring high-quality teaching, coordination and curriculum development across the St George and Sutherland Clinical Campuses and the School of Clinical Medicine. A Lecturer (Level B) will develop scholarly research and professional activities nationally and internationally and contribute to the teaching and service missions of the School and Faculty. A Senior Lecturer (Level C) will conduct high-quality research and contribute to educational excellence in the School and Faculty. This role provides clinical teaching, educational and research leadership on the St George Hospital campus, with a preference for a Critical Care specialization. The role reports to the Head of St George and Sutherland Clinical Campuses and the relevant Head of Discipline, with no direct reports.
Key Skills / Qualifications
A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
Medical qualification registerable in NSW and specialist training, preferably in a Critical Care field.
Commitment to staying up-to-date with discipline knowledge and developments.
Experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
Experience with educational technologies and online delivery methods.
Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence (e.g., discipline-based curriculum design and development at a variety of levels and scales).
Knowledge of industry or experience of work-integrated learning (desirable).
Ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as well as the capacity for research leadership.
Involvement with the profession and/or industry.
High level communication skills and ability to network effectively and interact with a diverse range of students and staff.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
