Overview UNSW Medicine & Health is an international leader in learning, teaching and research, co-located with several of Australia’s finest hospitals, medical research institutes and health care organisations. The Faculty's new Progress for All strategy and the opening of the Health Translation Hub in November 2025 mark an exciting time to join. The School of Population Health (SPH) at UNSW is internationally recognised as a leader in public health and health systems education and research, delivering high-quality education in public and global health, health leadership and management, and research across infectious diseases and immunisation, health services and implementation research, and global health. SPH collaborates with communities to improve health in Australia, the region and globally, with a focus on equity, diversity and social justice. SPH is co-located in the Randwick Precinct's Health Translation Hub with research groups and centres including the International Centre for Future Health Systems (ICFHS) and The George Institute.
Why this role matters This position will lead and advance nursing education and research at national and international levels. As Professor and Discipline Lead, Nursing, you will lead the development, delivery and enhancement of high-quality nursing education for the Faculty, foster strong research partnerships, and elevate UNSW's reputation through interdisciplinary health systems and nursing research, aligned with national priorities, workforce needs and UNSW’s Progress for All strategy. The position reports to the Head of School, Population Health.
Key Skills And Experience Required
A PhD in Nursing or related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
Evidence of academic excellence in nursing education and research, with a national/international profile.
Registered Nurse eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
Experience with curriculum accreditation and alignment with NMBA and TEQSA standards.
Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development and delivery of courses and programs, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others.
Demonstrated experience with industry or work-integrated learning.
Evidence of professional development of teaching practice in self and others with the ability to advance and lead an inclusive culture of excellence in learning and teaching.
