Overview The Director of Compensation and Benefits will lead the design, execution, and continuous improvement of total rewards programs across our growing ophthalmology group. This role is responsible for developing compensation structures, managing benefits programs, and ensuring regulatory compliance - while supporting rapid growth, organizational partnerships, and a diverse clinical and non-clinical workforce.

Responsibilities

Compensation Strategy & Execution: Develop and maintain a competitive, scalable compensation structure across all areas, including clinical staff (excluding physician compensation).

Compensation Strategy & Execution: Conduct regular market benchmarking using compensation tools and industry surveys (e.g., MGMA, Mercer).

Compensation Strategy & Execution: Design and manage incentive programs, including bonus plans.

Compensation Strategy & Execution: Collaborate with finance to model cost impacts and align compensation with business goals.

Compensation Strategy & Execution: Monitor internal equity and perform regular pay equity audits.

Benefits Program Management: Evaluate, recommend, and manage health, dental, vision, disability, life, 401(k), and wellness benefits.

Benefits Program Management: Oversee annual open enrollment, vendor negotiations, and plan performance analysis.

Benefits Program Management: Implement strategies for benefits cost containment while maintaining employee satisfaction.

Benefits Program Management: Ensure benefits offerings are competitive and meet the needs of a geographically and professionally diverse workforce.

Compliance & Governance: Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations including FLSA, ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, and IRS guidelines.

Compliance & Governance: Maintain documentation for all compensation and benefits programs, including policies, audits, and annual filings (e.g., Form 5500).

Compliance & Governance: Support internal and external audit processes.

Organizational Integration: Develop and execute integration strategies to harmonize compensation and benefits programs across acquired entities.

Organizational Integration: Partner with Legal, Finance, and HR Operations to ensure seamless employee transitions.

Employee Communication & Engagement: Develop and deliver clear, engaging communications on total rewards offerings.

Employee Communication & Engagement: Train HRBPs and managers on compensation practices and tools.

Employee Communication & Engagement: Support a total rewards brand that enhances recruitment, retention, and employee experience.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with brokers, carriers, consultants, and third-party vendors.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, and HR teams to ensure aligned execution of comp and benefits strategies.

Other Duties And Responsibilities: Policy and Procedure Management.

Education And Experience

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, Finance, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

8+ years of progressive HR experience, with 3+ years in a leadership role focused on compensation and benefits.

Experience in multi-site healthcare, physician group practices, or PE-backed organizations strongly preferred.

Deep knowledge of compensation structures, incentive design, benefits administration, and compliance regulations.

Proficient with HRIS systems (e.g., Paycor, UKG, Workday, ADP) and compensation benchmarking tools.

Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.

Position Type And Expected Hours Of Work

This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. This position is full-time.

Travel to other locations may be required from time-to-time.

The employee will be required to work in an office environment or remotely as needed. Ability to travel between locations may be necessary.
