PR & Communications Director, North America
Explore role at Explora Journeys. We are seeking an experienced PR & Communications Director to lead our North America communications strategy. You will play a crucial role in increasing brand awareness and engagement in these key markets, working closely with global teams while tailoring campaigns to local audiences. This role is based in New York City and requires frequent travel, including monthly travel to the US headquarters in Miami and up to four times per year travel to the global headquarters in Geneva. The role reports to the Global Head of PR and collaborates with the President, Explora Journeys North America.
Salary Range: $120-180k
Your Impact
Develop and execute the annual North America communications strategy, focusing on increasing consumer awareness and engagement
Lead the delivery, adaptation, and amplification of global PR & Communications campaigns to ensure relevance and impact in the local market
Hold and develop strong key relationships to trade and luxury lifestyle media in the local market to maximize coverage and build brand visibility
Organize and manage key industry and brand events (both virtual and live) to boost market presence
Help identify, select and manage the relevant agency partners
Identify and negotiate contracts with local brand ambassadors in alignment with the global team
Propose local partnership ideas to drive brand awareness and value
Work on local adaptation of PR & Communications Tool Kits including all materials within given deadlines (press releases, press kits, quotes, talking points, presentation, scripts and picture/video materials) and prepare & create PR tool kits for local activations/projects
Oversee thought leadership initiatives for North American management team, securing media opportunities and positioning them as industry experts
Manage media reporting and competitive analysis for Explora Journeys and competitor brands in the region
Ensure gathering of consumer and industry insights, benchmark analysis and trends to be shared with global PR/Comms team on a regular basis
Develop and manage a strategic awards calendar to elevate brand credibility and visibility through targeted industry recognition in travel, hospitality, design, and luxury lifestyle sectors
Support issues management, including reactive statements and alignment with internal stakeholders where required
Support digital PR and social media integration to ensure campaigns resonate across channels, in collaboration with global digital and social teams
Success will be measured by media impact, brand sentiment, quality of event execution, ambassador partnerships, and growth in brand visibility across luxury lifestyle and travel sectors
Own the PR & Communications budget, including agency/vendor management
Your Journey
You have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar PR or Communications role in the Luxury or Luxury Hospitality/Travel Industry
You know the codes of luxury and bring an extensive media network within the luxury and preferably the travel industry
You have a proven track record of organizing luxury events
You led execution and amplification of omni-channel marketing & PR campaigns
You set yourself apart through your personal accountability to deliver with excellence
You are structured, well organized and know how to navigate in a matrix organization
Openness to travel up to 40% of the time mostly nationally/regionally occasionally internationally
