Overview
Our telecom analytics client is seeking an experienced
Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) Consultant
to provide project-based leadership and expertise during a critical growth phase. This remote contract role (4–8 months) focuses on financial reporting, compliance, process improvement, and accounting operations. The consultant will partner closely with the CFO and executive leadership to strengthen accounting processes, support strategic initiatives, and ensure accurate reporting in a fast-paced, data-driven environment. 4–8 months (contract, project-based) Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee all core accounting operations, including GL, consolidations, revenue recognition, and cash flow reporting. Ensure financial reporting accuracy and compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards. Evaluate and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures. Support external audit and tax compliance requirements. Implement process improvements and support integration of accounting systems and tools (e.g., ERP, BI platforms). Partner with FP&A and analytics teams to align financial reporting with business KPIs. Provide executive-level reporting, insights, and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders. Mentor and advise internal accounting staff to ensure continuity after the contract engagement concludes. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 15+ years of progressive accounting leadership
experience, including prior roles as CAO, VP of Accounting, or Corporate Controller. Background in
technology, telecom, or analytics industries
strongly preferred. Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, revenue recognition, and compliance frameworks. Hands-on experience with ERP systems and BI tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Power BI). Demonstrated ability to quickly assess, improve, and stabilize accounting processes in a project-based or consulting capacity. Seniority level
