Contra Costa College . Contra Costa County is seeking a Procurement Services Director (Deputy Public Works Director) within the Public Works Department. This classification is EXEMPT from the merit system and is not subject to the guidelines set forth in the Personnel Management Regulations.

Responsibilities

The Procurement Services Director is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing the County’s procurement division. This newly established role will define and implement a modern procurement model focused on service delivery, efficiency, and innovation. Reporting to the Public Works Director, and collaborating directly with County Administration, the Procurement Services Director will lead a division undergoing modernization, drive results through process improvement, and serve as the face of procurement for internal and external stakeholders. The role carries supervisory authority over a team of 12 within procurement operations.

Minimum Qualifications

License Required:

Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License. Out-of-State valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s licenses will be accepted during the application process.

Registration:

Deputies responsible for Flood Control, Road Maintenance, Transportation Engineering, Engineering Services, and Design & Construction must possess a valid certificate of registration as a Civil Engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Civil and Professional Engineers.

Procurement Certifications:

Deputies responsible for Procurement must possess one or more of the following professional certifications: CPPO, CPM, CPPB, CPSM.

Education:

Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in business management or administration, public administration, economics, supply chain management, engineering or a closely related field.

Experience:

Six (6) years of progressive full-time, or its equivalent experience, in a managerial/supervisory or administrative capacity in one or more of the following areas: Engineering, facilities or field maintenance, flood control, project management, personnel management, land acquisition and property management, procurement or finance. One (1) year of the required experience must have been in a public agency.
