Overview
Tuff Shed, Inc. is hiring a Vice President of IT (Digital) for our headquarters in south Denver (I-25 & Colorado Blvd). This is a salaried position and is eligible for our profit sharing bonus plan. The Vice President, IT (Digital) will serve as the senior technology leader at Tuff Shed, responsible for defining and executing the organization’s digital vision while ensuring stability, security, and scalability of core technology systems. A proactive leader with a field- and customer-centric approach, the VP will partner with executive leadership to align technology investments with business priorities and drive digital transformation across the enterprise. This role requires both vision and execution: planning and delivering the long-term digital strategy, while also ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of Tuff Shed’s systems and networks. The VP will manage and motivate employees at all levels, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and transparency.
Responsibilities
Design and execute a forward-looking digital and technology strategy aligned with Tuff Shed’s business priorities.
Partner with executive leadership to identify opportunities where technology creates competitive advantage, enhances customer experience, and supports operational excellence.
Lead the development and maintenance of a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy to protect company data, intellectual property, and systems.
Serve as a thought leader on emerging technologies, digital transformation, and IT governance.
Be a visible, hands-on leader who inspires, mentors, and works alongside the Digital team when needed to ensure execution and delivery.
When needed and where applicable, partner with strategic third-party advisors on software strategy and selection.
Operational & Technology Management
Oversee enterprise-wide IT systems, including infrastructure, networks, help desk, hardware, enterprise applications, telecommunications, project management and cybersecurity.
Ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of technology platforms to support business growth.
Lead the selection, implementation, and management of enterprise software, cloud solutions, emerging technologies (AI), and data systems.
Oversee the software development and product management teams, ensuring delivery and maintenance of scalable, secure, and reliable solutions that align with business priorities.
Establish and manage the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) — from requirements gathering and design through development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
Develop, manage and maintain the IT budget with fiscal discipline, ensuring investments deliver measurable value.
Establish and maintain IT policies, standards, and processes that ensure stability, reliability, and compliance.
Implement performance metrics and dashboards to measure IT effectiveness and communicate results to business leaders.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies.
To fulfill the responsibilities outlined above, the VP, Digital is expected to be on-site at the National Support Center as scheduled, including occasional weekends, and to work all required hours.
Performing all other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Tuff Shed management.
Evaluate and consider opportunities for outsourcing or third-party external solutions of parts of our digital delivery.
Leadership & People Development
Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing Digital team, fostering professional growth and technical excellence.
Foster a customer-service mindset in the Digital Team, ensuring responsiveness, clear communication, and proactive support across the organization.
Promote cross-functional collaboration with operations, sales, production, finance, marketing, HR, and other teams.
Manage vendor and consultant relationships to maximize value, service quality, and innovation.
Lead change management initiatives to increase adoption and impact of new technologies.
Job Qualifications
Strong background in IT strategy, infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise applications, and digital transformation.
Demonstrated ability to align technology investments with business objectives and deliver measurable business outcomes.
Exceptional leadership skills with experience building and motivating high-performing teams.
Strong business acumen, communication, and relationship-building skills across all levels of the organization.
Hands-on, pragmatic leadership style with a willingness to “roll up sleeves” when needed.
Experience
Proven experience leading IT or Digital teams at the executive level in a multi-site or national organization.
Previous Digital management experience, including progressively higher levels of management responsibility encompassing budget development as well as supervision of professionals working with large, complex administrative systems.
Experience with CRM (Salesforce) and ERP software required; manufacturing industry software experience preferred.
Education / Certifications / Licenses
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technology field or requisite experience
Certifications: Project management and/or additional business certifications/coursework highly preferred
Licenses: Must have valid driver’s license and acceptable MVR
