The Opportunity

SpatialGIS is seeking a GIS Data Specialist to integrate geospatial and alphanumeric data, build data warehouses/lakes, consolidate and geospatially enable data, and publish it for mapping, reporting, and business intelligence. This role supports GIS and alphanumeric data integration and presentation to evaluate asset vulnerability and resource management for NPS. Work involves data and application analysis, harvesting, consolidating, integrating, and publishing data. It may also require data systems analysis, project planning, tracking, and risk identification. The focus is on geospatial and tabular datasets from enterprise applications.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement NPS data integration strategies and define lifecycle requirements.

Leverage pilot projects to demonstrate functionality to stakeholders.

Lead reviews to identify key geospatial and alphanumeric data from source systems.

Develop and maintain enterprise data architecture.

Assess and suggest integration, mapping, reporting, and visualization tools.

Analyze BI activities and identify required resources.

Design data movement processes and conduct quality control tests.

Develop data lake, data warehouse, or geospatial data warehouse models.

Model data structures and design data/geospatial services.

Develop designs for all metadata related to ETL/ELT processes.

Develop and maintain database scripts and tools for data movement.

Automate data movement using ETL, ELT, or service-based technologies.

Evaluate source systems and recommend enhancements for data linking.

Scrutinize NPS data infrastructure, identify gaps, and plan integration.

Monitor processes and expedite metadata gathering.

Prepare designs for data integration systems and recommend performance improvements.

Develop and implement geospatial and alphanumeric data access strategies.

Develop and prototype reports, dashboards, and maps.

Define metadata standards for the data integration layer.

Troubleshoot data movement processes.

Integrate geospatial data and database platforms with cloud-based services (Dataverse, Data Lake).

Implement AI/ML technologies for business intelligence mining.

Provide briefings and reports on milestones, next steps, and risks; coordinate tasks with NISC team members and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Experience in managing GIS databases and developing web services for GIS applications, including data integration and visualization.
