Georgetown University Law Center is seeking an Assistant Director of Accessibility Services. The Assistant Director works under the Director and partners with Law Center faculty, staff, and students to provide accommodations and support for students with disabilities. Responsibilities
Determining and implementing reasonable accommodations to remove access barriers for students with disabilities in curricular and cocurricular environments; Implementing approved academic adjustments (e.g., exam modifications) for pregnant/parenting students and/or students navigating temporary medical conditions; Sharing resources with students with disabilities requesting MPRE and/or Bar Exam accommodations; and Promoting Universal Design for Learning through collaboration with faculty and staff across the Law Center. Engaging with students with disabilities in an interactive process to determine reasonable accommodations. Communicating with Law Center faculty to facilitate academic accommodations. Collaborating with campus partners to ensure an accessible curricular and cocurricular experience for students. Work Interactions
Under the supervision of the Director, the Assistant Director works directly with JD and LL.M. students seeking accessibility-related accommodations. The Assistant Director also collaborates with the OAS Associate Director and Student Accessibility Coordinator and with Law Center faculty to implement accommodations. Interaction with campus partners, including the Office of the Registrar, Information Systems Technology (IST), and Planning & Facilities Management, helps ensure that students’ access needs are met. Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree in higher education administration, special education, rehabilitation counseling, human services, or other relevant discipline preferred Minimum 3 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities in an academic environment Familiarity with the application of Section 504 and the ADA in the higher education setting, and ability to recognize and understand regulatory requirements associated with disability and accommodation issues Ability to interpret medical, psychological, neuropsychological and educational documentation Familiarity with assistive technologies and their application to students with disabilities in higher education preferred Excellent judgment and discretion in managing confidential information Ability to enthusiastically support and interact with people of diverse ages, backgrounds, experiences, and personality types Demonstrated organizational skills and careful attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to balance collaborative and independent work Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Adobe Work Mode
