Overview
San José State University (SJSU), a campus of the California State University, invites applications for the Justice Studies Lecturer Pool. The Department of Justice Studies delivers degree programs focused on justice broadly, emphasizing interdisciplinary inquiry into criminology, forensic science, law, and human rights. The department offers undergraduate degrees in Justice Studies (with a Criminology concentration) and a Forensic Science degree with concentrations in Forensic Biology, Forensic Chemistry, Digital Evidence, and Crime Scene Investigation, minors in Justice Studies, Forensic Sciences, Legal Studies and Human Rights, and two graduate degrees: the MS in Justice Studies and the MS in Criminology with a Global Criminology concentration. Responsibilities
Teach courses offered by the Department of Justice Studies that contribute to our major or minor programs, undergraduate for graduate programs, and any other duties consistent with University Policy S21-2. Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a diverse student population through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement. Faculty shall organize all their classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester or term, in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes (i.e., asynchronous, synchronous, bichronous, in-person, or hybrid). Required Qualifications
Master’s degree or juris doctorate with demonstrated advanced expertise, or 10 years of experience working in a justice-related or forensic science field. Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population, gained through cross-cultural study, training, teaching, or comparable experience. Compensation and Salary
Compensation and salary range placement are determined by qualifications and experience. Anticipated starting salary ranges are: L-A / Range 2 — $5,507 to $5,959 per month L-B / Range 3 — $6,221 to $7,481 per month L-C / Range 4 — $6,825 to $9,431 per month L-D / Range 5 — $8,593 to $10,347 per month Note: Range salaries above are the anticipated monthly salary rate for full-time AY faculty; part-time rates are prorated.
