Vice President, Houston Marketplace Leader
to join our team in
Houston, TX . The ML will serve as the firms strategic growth leader for the Houston marketplace and will lead the collaboration and coordination of growth efforts for the marketplace's operations. The ML will develop and implement a Houston marketplace growth plan, and, in concert with the Chief Operating Officers (COOs) and Houston Operational Leaders, will develop growth plans, budgets, and political strategies. The ML will hire and manage all local business development professionals and report progress to the Chief Development Officer (CDO). As the senior representative in the marketplace, the ML will lead and participate in major business development initiatives including project pursuits, build relationships with clients, prospective clients, potential strategic allies, and acquisitions; lead marketplace political initiatives; and represent the organization with professional societies and civic entities. The ML will contribute to a workplace culture that supports talent retention and attraction. The primary measure of effectiveness will be revenue growth and long-term profitability. Plan, develop, and execute the Houston marketplace growth plan and department budget; manage the relationship management plan for local growth efforts. Monitor market trends and communicate implications for the firms long-term performance. Client intimacy: gather perspectives from the Houston marketplaces largest clients and monitor client feedback; adapt service offerings to increase client value. Growth management: establish and manage relationships with executive-level clients and potential strategic allies; hire, train, and monitor growth metrics for marketplace business development staff; supervise local business development personnel; coordinate cross-service-line growth efforts; lead major initiatives and project pursuits and the Go/No Go process; coordinate marketing resource needs with Corporate Marketing. Government relations: plan and participate in marketplace political initiatives; assess needs from Political Action Committee activities and advise leadership on local political support levels. Community relations: serve as the firms senior representative for civic and professional organizations and engage Houston Operational Leaders and high-potential staff as appropriate. Acquisition and sourcing: lead identification of potential acquisitions and coordinate with leadership on candidates. Culture: lead onboarding, messaging, and the client-intimate business model; model and coach the firms growth strategy and long-term direction. Regional leadership: support Houston service line leaders to help them achieve marketing and financial objectives. Quality management system: support the Enterprises Quality Management System. Safety program: play a major role in local safety operations. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Sciences, or Business. Fifteen (15) or more years of leadership experience in the architecture, engineering and construction industry (preferably in the San Antonio South Texas marketplace). Experience with governmental affairs and community relations. Well-known and respected within the Houston business and governmental community. Valid drivers license and meeting auto insurability requirements. Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite; ability to develop strong, cooperative relationships with senior management; ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally.
