Sr. SW Engineer - CSMS/OCPP SME (Bentonville, AR)
Background : This is a long-term consulting role lasting 12-24+ months, with potential to convert to full-time employment. The candidate will serve as the SME (Subject Matter Expert) for the EV team's CSMS development. The role involves hiring and training two junior to mid-level team members. Terms : CSMS : "Charging Station Management Systems" OCPP : "Open Charge Point Protocol" Interviews : 2 Rounds (possible 3rd) Location : Must sit in or relocate to Bentonville, AR (hybrid work model) from day 1 Must Have Skills : Senior-level experience (10+ years) with Java, Python, or Golang frameworks 3+ years of experience in designing and developing CSMS platforms for EV charging stations Experience supporting CSMS frameworks with OCPP 1.6J or 2.0.1 Understanding of EV vehicle and charger station protocols and guidelines Highly Desired: OCPP certifications Job Description: We seek a strong candidate based in the US to work hands-on as an individual contributor, guiding developers in CSMS development. What You'll Do: Collaborate with Walmart engineering teams globally to leverage expertise and contribute to CSMS development Engage with product and architecture teams to share core capabilities and contribute to the CSMS roadmap Build, test, deploy CSMS solutions at scale, supporting Walmart's EV strategy Mentor team members to follow best practices for quality and rapid delivery Focus on reusability, frameworks, patterns, and configuration tools for faster development cycles Proactively resolve technical challenges Diagnose issues between CSMS systems and EV charger hardware What You'll Bring: 10+ years in designing and developing highly scalable applications 3+ years in developing CSMS platforms for EV charging stations Deep understanding of EV protocols, guidelines, and standards Strong hands-on skills in prototyping technical solutions Experience with CSMS frameworks supporting OCPP 1.6J or 2.0.1 Experience with smart charging, auto-charge, ISO 15118, V2G/V2X charging OCPP certification experience Knowledge of EV system performance benchmarks, AC/DC charging systems Understanding of hardware, control, and software aspects of EV charging Ability to conduct root cause analysis and propose cost-effective solutions Experience with open-source CSMS frameworks Mandatory Technical Skills: Java, Python, or Golang frameworks Experience with CSMS systems Experience implementing OCPP modules for versions 1.6J or 2.0.1 Personal Information
