Kind of WorkThe purpose of this position is to safely and efficiently operate a Vacuum Truck (such as Vactor, Vac-Con), and to perform minor maintenance and servicing of the assigned equipment in accordance to existing safety programs, work standards, and procedures. Besides operating a Vacuum Truck (such as Vactor, Vac-Con), the operator will be required to inspect and maintain the equipment's tire inflation; oil levels; leaks (oil, fuel, water, etc.); coolant in radiator; lights and signal devices; clear and clean windows, lamp lenses, mirrors; and functioning windshield wipers. May also be required to operate all equipment assigned to lower level Equipment Operators, as well as all equipment assigned to the level of Equipment Operator IV, as assigned by the department. Depending on the assigned vehicles, Equipment Operator IV may be required to possess a valid Louisiana Class A Commercial Driver's License in order to perform the tasks associated with the position. Performs related work as required.
