We are looking for a Quality Engineer to assist the Director of Quality Assurance in managing the quality function for both our continuous process and job shop manufacturing environments. We are ISO 9001-2008 certified and looking to become TS-certified in part of the business. We have 2 plants located approximately 15 minutes apart on the south side of Chicago. One of the plants operates 24 hours per day, 5-6 days per week. The other plant operates a 10-hour shift 4-5 days per week and a 12-hour shift 7 days per week. This position is the salaried position that reports to the Director of Quality Assurance who reports to the President who reports to the CEO. They must have good attention to detail and the ability to effectively multi-task. Essential Functions: • Assists the Quality Assurance Director (QAD) in any and all Quality related issues at EGP. • Understands the QS and how it is applied at EGP • Assist the QAD in ensuring that the system is implemented and adhered to in a productive manner and complies with ISO 9001 requirements. • Understands how the Quality Department functions as part of and within EGP processes. This includes understanding what the QAT and other employees do on the production floor to ensure a good product and the ability to perform or assist that job whenever the Quality Assurance Director deems it necessary. • Evaluating SPC and other Production data. Formulate and maintain quality objectives that are driven by QAD. • Completes, when instructed by the QAD, any revisions or proofreading necessary for procedures or work instructions. • Interpret quality philosophy and train key personnel on standards put in place by QAD • Oversees inspection and test to ensure the quality of assigned product or component meet customer expectations. • Applies Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods for analyzing data • Perform vendor review and evaluation based on Vendor Quality Program complementary to QAD policies. • Implement continuous improvement activities identified by QAD as related to product quality. • Assist QAD with Corrective and/or Preventive Action when product or process does not conform to stated requirements. • Manufacturing resource for notifications and resolution of supplier quality issues associated with defined product families. • Support Part Submission Warrants and customer respective forms for Advance Product Quality Planning. • Product Quality liaison to assist QAD in providing technical concept and solutions to customers. • Responsible for tool usage and maintaining calibration program • Willingness to travel domestically up to 25% • Additional duties as assigned SKILLS AND CERTIFICATIONS Does the candidate have a bachelor’s degree? Does the candidate have 3-5 years of quality engineering experience? Does the candidate have experience with ISO 9001/TS-16949 Compliance? Does the candidate have knowledge of GANA and ANSI standards? Does the candidate have demonstrated experience with Six Sigma Green Belt? Does the candidate have knowledge of Control Plans, DOE, FMEA’s, Root Cause Analysis, Capability Ana Does the candidate have an understanding of Lean Manufacturing, APQP, PPAP and 8D Processes? Does the candidate have Broad knowledge of theory and statistical principles as well as SPC? IDEAL CANDIDATE The ideal candidate will have all of the skills listed above plus the following: • Knowledge of instrument calibration service and repair – onsite/external; Dimensional Calibration, Masters & Standards, Tool Calibration (Micrometers, Calipers – Dials, Digital, Vernier) and gage calibration. • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. • Familiar with Minitab 17 Statistical Software or equivalent • Familiar with the MS Office 2010 software package and with SPC Software tools.
