We are currently seeking an enthusiastic individual to fill the position of Blast Operator/Painter. The successful candidate will work closely with the Weld & Fabrication Manager and be a key member of the manufacturing team. This candidate should possess a hands-on approach and have a strong background in surface preparation, machine operation, masking, priming, painting and other manufacturing processes in an industrial setting. This position reports to the Weld & Fabrication Manager.

Grinding Polishing Deburring Surface preparation & cleaning Other manual support for machine operators Abrades surfaces of metal or hard-composition objects to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt, and to impart specified finish, using abrasive-blasting equipment: Shovels or pours abrasives, such as sand, grit, or shot of specified grade into machine hopper. Masks specified areas of object to protect from abrading action. Loads parts on racks in enclosed rooms. Turns valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle or into tumbling barrel. Starts equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasive-laden compressed air, gas, or liquid over surface of parts. Mask off parts to prepare for painting. Mix and apply primers to manufactured and purchased parts Mix and apply top coat paints to manufactured and purchased parts Other duties as assigned. Skills Required

Must be able to read and understand drawings, blue prints, work orders and instruction sheets. Must assume the responsibility for the quality of the finished product according to written specs. Must have at least one year of experience with shot blast room operations in the industrial or automotive industry. Must have at least one year of experience with industrial and/or automotive paint application. Must be flexible, able to work with a wide variety of products. Must be able to properly clean and maintain blasting equipment. Must be able to properly clean and maintain painting equipment. Must be able to follow directions, both written and verbal, from floor supervisor and/or manufacturing manager. Must be able to lift 75 pounds. Able to work in a fast-paced production environment, making every effort to meet standard allotted times on work orders. Must be able to work extra hours when necessary. Must be able to work well and communicate with painters on goals and objectives. Must be team oriented and be able to work with others as well as independently. Must be dependable and detail oriented. Forklift operation experience preferred but not required. LEAN Manufacturing experience or training preferred, but not required. Benefit Program
