ABOUT THE ROLE
Amrize, a leading supplier of quality construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Heavy Equipment Operator to support operations at the Bladensburg plant location in Bladensburg, MD. This role offers an exciting opportunity to operate and configure multiple pieces of heavy machinery while ensuring they run efficiently and safely.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
Operate various heavy equipment, including skid steers, loaders, excavators, and backhoes, to facilitate efficient loading and movement of materials such as sand, gravel, and aggregate.
Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper lubrication, and report any issues to supervisors.
Safely transport materials to diverse locations within the quarry, working diligently to maintain workflow and productivity.
Engage in general labor tasks like digging, lifting, loading, unloading, and clearing work areas to maintain operational success.
Implement safety protocols during material handling and transportation to guarantee compliance with safety regulations.
Support site preparation for construction projects, including grading, leveling, and clearing land.
Collaborate with team members to maintain adherence to safety regulations, including MSHA standards.
Participate in daily setup and teardown processes, ensuring that equipment is arranged efficiently for upcoming shifts.
Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized worksite, emphasizing safety and efficiency.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Required Work Experience:
Proven experience operating heavy equipment, including skid steers, loaders, excavators, and backhoes. Travel Requirements:
Willingness to travel 25%-50% of the time. Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting and performing regular equipment maintenance. Ability to work in various outdoor conditions, including extreme weather and dusty environments. Strong safety awareness and compliance with MSHA and OSHA regulations. Must pass a 7-year criminal background check and a DOT physical and drug screening as required. Physical capability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy materials and working in demanding conditions. Basic understanding of quarry operations and material handling processes. Ability to work both independently and as part of a cohesive team, following supervisor instructions and collaborating with coworkers.
