ABOUT THE ROLE
Join Holcim US, a premier supplier of quality construction materials in the United States. We are currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to contribute to our operations at the New Kent, VA Quarry. In this vital role, you will operate and optimize various heavy machinery while ensuring effective maintenance and safety protocols are followed.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
Safely operate heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, bulldozers, and haul trucks to efficiently move raw materials.
Load and unload materials like rock, gravel, and sand to support crushing, screening, and transport operations.
Conduct routine equipment inspections and perform basic maintenance to ensure machines operate optimally and prevent downtime.
Support production goals by maintaining timely material movement and minimizing workflow delays.
Adhere to safety procedures and quarry regulations to ensure a secure working environment for yourself and others.
Assist in site clean-up and organization, ensuring compliance with environmental standards.
Effectively communicate with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks, report issues, and maintain workflow.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent Required Experience:
1-2 years in a quarry or industrial environment. Experience operating heavy machinery like loaders, excavators, and bulldozers in a quarry or similar setting. A strong commitment to safety protocols, PPE usage, and hazard identification; possessing a solid safety record. Basic mechanical knowledge with the ability to identify and report maintenance issues proactively. Good situational awareness and judgment for safe operation in active quarry environments. Physical stamina to endure long shifts in varying outdoor conditions. Excellent communication skills for following instructions and reporting updates effectively. Dependable work ethic, showing accountability and contributing consistently to daily production goals. Additional Requirements: Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and properly utilize Holcim-approved Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), including respirators, with the requirement of being clean-shaven for respirator fit tests.
