Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Academic Director of Communication and Media, the Communication and Media Program Assistant/College Assistant will support administrative and academic operations for the BA program and will perform the following duties:
Serve as informed in-office admissions contact for prospective students
Provide routine administrative support to students and adjunct faculty
Assist with preparing program communications to students and faculty
Monitor the program email account, and respond or route inquiries appropriately
Collect course syllabi and maintain semesterly syllabi and faculty office hour records
Enter and update course schedules and textbook information
Assist students with registration and granting permissions for upper-level courses in coordination with academic advisors
Assist with coordination of program events
Participate in program meetings
Maintain organized program files related to tracking student progress toward degree, updating faculty files and program document repositories
Other duties as assigned
Preferred Minimum Qualification:
High school diploma/GED
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience providing administrative support in a higher education setting
Bachelor’s degree or some college coursework from an accredited college or university
Experience with online learning
Strong attention to detail, accuracy and organizational skills
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Experience analyzing qualitative and quantitative data
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications with particular attention to Excel
Familiarity with or willingness to learn new software, including CUNYfirst, DegreeWorks, Coursedog and Akademos
Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities
