Substitute Transportation Monitor $13.00 per hour Valid driver's license. High School diploma or equivalent. Valid State of Ohio Student Monitor license. Must meet requirements of the Ohio Department of Education and the District's Board Policy. Professional tact, diplomacy and presentation with administrators, staff, teachers, students, parents, and the community. Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work performance. Good health, high moral character, and good attendance record. Demonstrate enthusiasm and a sincere desire to aid all students. Maintains confidentiality at all times within the District and the community. Must pass an FBI/BCI background check General Description
Assist the driver in the safe transportation of students, enabling the students to maintain safety both physically and behaviorally while in transit to and from school and/or extracurricular activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with the loading/unloading of the vehicle to ensure safety and secure placement within the vehicle as required per District policy, ODE requirements, and individual student plans (IEP or 504 Plan). Direct student supervision should be maintained at all times. Perform all duties delegated by the supervisor. Provide guidance and counsel to the students to promote their proper educational development and well-being. Maintain anecdotal records of student behavior as requested by supervisor and/or required by District policy. Demonstrate professional ethics and confidentiality. Promote good public relations by neat appearance, proper attitude, and professional interactions with all parents, students, staff, and community members. Assist the driver in maintaining safe operation and cleanliness of the vehicle. Maintain pupil control and report any violation to the transportation supervisor according to procedure. Will be present or available in the event of emergency dismissal.
Other Duties and Responsibilities Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings. Help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values. Wear appropriate work attire and maintain a neat appearance. Conduct additional duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation and/or designee. Additional Working Conditions
Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue. Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions. Occasional interaction among unruly children.
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.
