Overview Atrium Health- Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, is seeking an

Abdominal Transplant Procurement Surgeon to join the Division of Abdominal Transplant Surgery. This role is an integral part of our multidisciplinary transplant team, dedicated to advancing patient care through excellence in organ procurement and transplantation. Position Details: The surgeon will be responsible for the

surgical procurement of abdominal organs (kidney, liver, pancreas) for transplantation. Participation in

donor selection, evaluation, and management in collaboration with the transplant team. Active involvement in

ex-vivo perfusion technologies and emerging organ preservation techniques. Coordination with

local and national organ procurement organizations (OPOs) to ensure timely and effective organ recovery. Ability to travel for

on-call organ recovery assignments via ground and air transportation. Opportunity to participate in transplant

surgical procedures and post-procurement patient care based on experience and interest. Contribution to

education, training, and research within the transplant program, including mentorship of surgical fellows and residents. Requirements: MD or DO degree with board certification or eligibility in

General Surgery, Abdominal Transplant Surgery, or related fields . Completion of a

Transplant Surgery Fellowship with a focus on abdominal organ procurement. Expertise in

multi-organ procurement , including

DCD (Donation after Circulatory Death) and DBD (Donation after Brain Death) donors . Experience with

ex-vivo organ perfusion and preservation techniques is preferred. Eligibility for

full and unrestricted medical licensure in North Carolina. Must meet

CMS regulatory requirements for procurement surgeons in accordance with
