Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery Profession: Nursing Specialty: Obstetrics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in Labor and Delivery License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS ACLS NRP Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring STABLE (must complete within 30 days of start) Must-Have: Experience in all phases of Labor and Postpartum care. Comfortable with care of well babies. Description: Immediate start required. Interviews to be scheduled soon. The facility operates a Level III Nursery. They experience around 200 births per year. The unit comprises 4 Labor beds and 4 Postpartum beds. Travelers must be comfortable with low-risk patients. High-risk patients are transferred out for labor and delivery. The LDRP model is utilized, allowing patients to stay for Antepartum, Intrapartum, and Postpartum/Couplet care. Experience in managing post-partum hemorrhage, pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, bilirubin babies, NAS babies, and feeders/growers is essential. Low acuity patients requiring IV antibiotics and rehab may also be present. No infectious patients or telemetry monitoring will be assigned. Average patient ratios are: 1:2 for Laboring patients. 1:1 for Active Labor. 1:3-4 for Couplets. 1:2-3 for Med/Surg patients. The hospital has a low volume of deliveries, averaging 200 per year. A rooming-in model is implemented, and no dedicated Nursery RN is present. Registered Nurses will care for newborns. Support on the unit includes a minimum of 2 nurses overnight and occasionally 3. There are no CNAs; however, Health Unit Coordinators are available four days a week. Midwives perform most of the patient care, with OB available as needed. A charge nurse, phlebotomist, and respiratory therapy are available 24/7. The charting system used is Cerner. There may be floating to Med/Surg or Emergency Department for task-only assignments. Weekend rotation is required every other weekend. No on-call duty is expected. Holiday requirements will be every other holiday. Time off must be approved through management. Scrub colors are flexible, although must remain professional. Procedural scrubs will be provided for the operating room only.
