What To Expect Tesla is looking to hire a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to contribute to the development of structural joining, bonding and forming processes for our cutting-edge battery products. This position will drive technological advancement and the industrialization of novel manufacturing approaches for our cutting-edge Battery products while leading a high-performing team. Battery development is at the heart of our company, and this is an exciting opportunity to work directly on the central challenges with electric vehicles – battery cost and performance. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects.
What You'll Do
Lead a Manufacturing Engineering team specializing in structural process and technology development, overseeing team delivery and continuous domain support
Evaluate candidate structural manufacturing strategies for new battery products
Perform proof-of-concept to green light novel methods, technologies, and suppliers
Guide cross-functional selection of optimal process strategies and product interface definitions
Rigorous process and equipment development to achieve capability, performance, and quality targets
Process optimization and validation of each application through initial builds. Support release to production
Establish standards and support downstream factory process launch and improvement projects
What You'll Bring
7+ years of engineering or equivalent experience
Progressive personnel leadership experience in a technical discipline
Demonstrated expertise in the data-driven development and implementation of high-volume structural manufacturing methods including product interfaces, materials, processes, and equipment (at least one, multiple preferred): adhesives, potting, sealants, form-in-place gaskets, curing, fastening, riveting, clinching, pressing, hemming, welding, molding, casting, other
Simulation (CFD, Finite Elements) experience a plus
Degree in Engineering, Physics, Material Science, or equivalent experience
Compensation and Benefits Expected Compensation
$148,000 - $222,000 per year + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
