Director of Operations - Mission Critical at Satterfield & Pontikes Construction. This role is based in Houston, TX. Due to growth Satterfield and Pontikes is adding a Director to our Mission Critical Team. Ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience leading Mission Critical/Data Center construction projects.
Summary This is a key position within the organization that will lead the company’s efforts in building a robust, profitable Mission Critical business unit. You will be responsible for company growth, project execution, client satisfaction and retention, and operational excellence within the sector. This individual will work with the executive team to develop and implement sector strategies, build executive-level relationships, and lead cross-functional teams, that include subsidiaries, to capture major opportunities aligned with industry trends in digital infrastructure, energy integration, and mission-critical facilities. This individual will be responsible for building a best-in-class operation that achieves revenue and profit goals by establishing and maintaining positive client relationships.
The ability to understand client and project needs, assemble and manage high performing teams, react and motivate others to challenges and changing conditions is a critical key to success. In general, the core of this position requires an excellent understanding of client requirements and being able to meet those expectations by providing high quality, on time delivery of profitable projects.
Essential Job Functions
Successful project execution, client relationships and team building
Oversight of pre-construction estimating and proposal preparations
Interview preparations and pursuits
Negotiate contract terms and close pursuits.
Understand and identify business opportunities and client needs within the sector consistent with the overall Company business strategy
Lead and manage team efforts to position, target, and secure strategic pursuits
Provide insight and understand competitor strengths and weaknesses to inform winning pursuit strategies
Create and foster client relations, address client needs and protect company interests
Work with Marketing, Business Development and Executives on key initiatives to define and executing winning strategies
Build a successful organization through leadership, development and mentoring of project staff,
Support BD efforts by meeting with potential clients on business initiatives and opportunities
Act as a Client Advocate and Manager facilitating effective engagement and communication between clients and operations professionals
Participate in contract reviews to inform on pricing strategies, risk mitigation measures, etc.
Support the identification, attraction, and development of high caliber candidates needed to support the operations and growth of the sector
Qualifications
B.A. or B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, Energy Systems, or related field
15+ years of Construction, with at least 7 years in an/a executive leadership / leadership role involved in Mission Critical/Data Center projects.
