Position Description

The Project Controls Analyst is responsible for providing detailed cost control, scheduling, forecasting, and reporting for large-scale heavy industrial construction projects. This role ensures that projects are executed within scope, budget, and schedule, while supporting the project team in identifying risks, performance trends, and improvement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Control:

Develop and maintain detailed project budgets in alignment with contract values and work breakdown structures (WBS). Track actual costs, committed costs, and forecasted costs across all phases of construction (engineering, procurement, fabrication, erection, commissioning). Perform variance analysis and provide early warnings for cost overruns and funding shortfalls. Support monthly cost reports and cash flow projections.

Scheduling & Planning:

Develop and manage detailed construction schedules using Primavera P6 (or equivalent). Integrate subcontractor schedules and monitor progress to ensure alignment with the overall project timeline. Track critical path, resource loading, and schedule deviations, providing timely updates to stakeholders.

Change Management:

Monitor and track change orders, scope changes, and trend notices. Assist in evaluating cost and schedule impacts of changes and ensure proper documentation and approval workflows.

Performance Reporting & Analytics:

Prepare and distribute weekly/monthly project controls reports covering cost, schedule, productivity, and earned value (EVM). Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and support root cause analysis for deviations.

Risk & Opportunity Management:

Identify cost and schedule risks and assist in the development of mitigation strategies. Support risk workshops and maintain project risk registers in collaboration with project management.

Project Lifecycle Support:

Collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure project controls procedures align with corporate governance and client requirements.

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, or related field. 3-7 years of experience in project controls within heavy industrial construction (e.g., power plants, refineries, petrochemical facilities, mining, steel mills). Proficiency in project control tools such as: Primavera P6 ,

MS Project

(scheduling) Excel (Advanced) ,

Power BI ,

SAP , or

Oracle Primavera Contract Management

(cost control/reporting) Strong understanding of construction workflows, contracts, procurement, and labor tracking.

Preferred Certifications:

AACE Certified Cost Professional (CCP) PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) PMP or other project management certifications

Work Environment:

Based on project site or remote with frequent site visits. Work conditions may include exposure to construction areas, weather, and industrial hazards - appropriate PPE required. Fast-paced, collaborative environment requiring flexibility and adaptability.
