Terracon’s South Florida region is seeking a Director of Regional Operations (DRO) to direct the operations of its seven engineering consulting project offices. The DRO provides guidance to develop and implement each office’s strategic and operational plans, supports growth and technical competence, and monitors operational and financial performance of offices.
Location This role can be based out of one of these locations: Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Pt. St. Lucie, Ft. Myers, Sarasota, Tampa, or Winter Park.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities
Oversee the operations of a region comprising multiple offices (Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Pt. Lucie, Ft. Myers, Sarasota and Tampa). Support multiple service lines (Environmental, Geotechnical, Facilities and Materials) with aggregate booked labor revenue approximately $30 million and ~150+ employees.
Develop and execute the regional business plan; assist Operations Managers in setting short- and long-range operating goals and objectives annually.
Monitor financial results and assist in taking corrective action to meet financial goals.
Collaborate with Offices to grow in alignment with the strategic plan.
Assist the Senior VP of Operations or COO in implementing strategic plan components within the organization.
Oversee and provide direction to Operations Managers in administration of the employee lifecycle (recruitment, hiring, performance management, compensation, discipline, termination).
Monitor client issues, assist with reconciliation, and keep Senior Management informed of pending legal actions.
Provide direction and expertise in project/client development and ensure necessary resources support marketing efforts.
Lead organizational change and drive continuous improvement; promote risk management and ensure contracts are signed and fully executed prior to work.
Monitor adherence to corporate risk policies; hold Managers accountable for mitigating or eliminating risk.
Communicate safety initiatives and guidelines; hold Managers and Employees accountable for following safety rules.
Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects; ensure best practices and hold Managers to quality standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science or geology-related discipline with 12 years of related experience; or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 16 years of related experience.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history.
Ability to travel up to 20%.
