Director Regional Operations – A/E/C Consulting Industry
Terracon’s South Florida region is looking for a Director of Regional Operations (DRO) to direct the operations of its seven engineering consulting project offices. The DRO provides guidance to ensure development and implementation of each office’s strategic and operational plans, growth, and technical competence. The role provides direction and expertise to the development of projects or clients and monitors the operational and financial performance of offices.
This role can be based out of one of these locations : Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Pt. St. Lucie, Ft. Myers, Sarasota, Tampa, or Winter Park.
Essential Roles And Responsibilities
Oversee the operations of a region of multiple offices (Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Pt. Lucie, Ft. Meyers, Sarasota and Tampa). Support multiple service lines such as Environmental, Geotechnical, Facilities and Materials with aggregate booked labor revenue of approximately $30 million and approximately 150+ employees.
Develop and execute the regional business plan; assist Operations Managers in developing short and long-range operating goals and objectives on an annual basis.
Monitor the financial results of the offices and assist the Operations Managers in taking corrective action to achieve financial goals.
Work with Offices to grow in accordance with the strategic plan.
Assist the Senior Vice President of Operations or Chief Operating Officer in the implementation of strategic plan components into the respective organization.
Oversee and provide direction to Operations Managers in the administration of the employee lifecycle (recruitment, hiring, performance management, salary administration, discipline, termination). Consult with Senior Vice President of Operations or Chief Operating Officer.
Monitor client issues, assist the offices with reconciliation, and keep Senior Management informed of any pending legal action.
Provide direction and expertise to the development of projects or clients and ensure necessary resources are available to support marketing efforts.
Provide development to Operations Managers.
Lead, facilitate and communicate change to the organization.
Manage risk related to projects. Ensure contracts are signed and fully executed prior to commencing work. Monitor adherence to corporate risk policies and practices. Hold Managers accountable for mitigating or eliminating risk.
Communicate safety initiatives, rules and guidelines for the Office or Region. Hold Managers and Employees accountable for following safety rules and guidelines.
Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Ensure best practices are followed and hold Managers accountable for quality control standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline practiced by the Firm (including Engineering, Environmental Science or Geology) and 12 years of related experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 16 years of related experience.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
The ability to travel up to 20%.
