This position reports to the IT Division Manager; responsible for direct supervision and management of a unit of technical staff IT applications and systems development, data security, computer operations units etc. Implements all strategies for all IT operations and supervises efficient working of all IT staff and ensures compliance to all deadlines and provides upgrade to all systems as required. Minimum Qualifications: On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must: Education: Have a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited college or university. AND Experience: Have seven years of application programming, systems design, and database management and/or GIS experience; including three years of supervisory responsibilities as disciplining, evaluating the performance of and recommending the hiring, firing, and promoting of subordinate employees. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Previous IT experience in government is preferred. OR Have an equivalent combination of education and experience. Non-supervisory experience or education may not be substituted for the required supervisory experience. Advanced technical credentials, e.g., Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of up-to-date technology strategies and resources. Knowledge of technology management and current technology. Knowledge of effective data center management. Knowledge of budget development. Knowledge of strategic planning for technology. Knowledge of quality management standards and processes. Knowledge of forecasting technology requirements. Ability to conduct systems audits for technology. Ability to research and implement technological solutions. Ability to solve technology problems. Additional Information: Background Check: Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed. Probation: All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-month's probation. Eligibility: Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months.
