Mechanical Project Engineer
The Project Engineer supports the Engineering department by providing all aspects of engineering of the HVAC system project design to ensure engineering deliverables meet project, schedule, and technical requirements. The Project Engineer also maintains awareness of the individual component cost, engineering man hours, and scope of work to achieve budget parameters. The Project Engineer's efforts actively support our mission of ensuring reliable, durable, and safe operations for our customers by furnishing the highest quality industrial HVAC systems. Responsible for the following key support areas: Industrial HVAC Systems and Equipment Project Design Teamwork Key Responsibilities
Industrial HVAC Systems and Equipment Project Design Determines project technical requirements and scope of work by reviewing proposal and job entry information, customer specifications, performance standards, and relevant code requirements for the offshore and onshore oil & gas industry. Identifies questions, missing information, and communicates these to the Project Manager for resolution. Proactively identifies potential design issues and presents solutions to the supervisor. Performs HVAC system design, including verification of heat loads, air flows, conceptual system design, and mechanical layouts. Selects HVAC system components by performing required system calculations and consulting technical data sheets and vendors. Prepares detailed ductwork designs, establishing routing consistent with industry and code requirements. Performs calculations for sizing, pressure losses, and noise. Creates ductwork arrangement drawings. Generates equipment general arrangement and detailed design drawings, performs weight and G.C.G. calculations, and ensures designs are manufacturable. Develops detailed mechanical drawings with all necessary information for procurement and manufacturing, collaborating with shop personnel. Determines operation sequence to meet design, code, and customer requirements, and establishes control philosophy. Works with Electrical Designer to generate electrical drawings, specifying all components. Communicates with client engineering personnel during the design phase, referring questions related to scope, schedule, or commercial matters to the Project Manager. Maintains routine communication regarding project status. Reviews drawing submittals for accuracy and compliance before submission. Prepares inquiry packages for technical components and solicits vendor proposals. Responds to client questions and revises drawings as needed. Prepares equipment Bill of Materials after approval and enters data into MAS500. Recommends sourcing options to the Project Manager. Supports manufacturing and commissioning phases by responding to questions. Generates Operating and Maintenance Manuals post-commissioning. Participates in project kick-off, interim, and final technical reviews, ensuring design compliance and operability. Ensures timely delivery of documentation and supports sales with preliminary design info. Coordinates with outside engineering resources and seeks process improvements. Teamwork Participates as a team member providing support and expertise in HVAC system design. Builds relationships with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and issue resolution. Skills/Knowledge Required
Engineering Degree required Minimum four (4) years of relevant design experience, including hazardous locations Knowledge of applicable codes (ASHRAE, NFPA, ABS, USCG, IMO, SMACNA, NEC, IEC, ATEX) Understanding of HVAC principles, load analysis, component selection, ductwork design, refrigeration cycles, and control systems Experience with industrial construction, fabrication, and 3D CAD (Inventor, AutoCAD) Ability to perform complex calculations and develop detailed manuals Forward thinking, logical planning, teamwork skills Travel up to 10%, valid Texas drivers license, physical requirements met Interested candidates should send their resume in Word format, referencing job code 134777. #J-18808-Ljbffr
