Director, Contracts (SLG) role at KPMG US . KPMG is currently seeking a Director to join the Enterprise Contracting Center: State and Local Government Team.
Responsibilities
- Apply a comprehensive, specialist-level knowledge of contract lifecycle management to set and drive a service-management-centric strategy for Enterprise Contracting Center (ECC) contracts team(s); ensure consistent application of guidance in providing advice or other solutions to ECC and business-area professionals; ensure contracting processes are followed by contract managers per business, Risk Management, Independence, and Office of General Counsel requirements
- Strategic and proactive responsibility to significantly contribute to the achievement of ECC goals, objectives, and priorities by participating in the development and execution of tactical plans that improve client service and create incremental client value, cost savings, and process re-engineering
- Direct or be a primary contributor on multiple key projects, programs and initiatives that require advanced contract management knowledge and negotiation skills; make independent decisions related to required responsibilities and use judgment to regularly make decisions on high-risk and complex matters; identify process improvement opportunities and significantly contribute to innovation through implementation of enhancements that create high client value, process efficiencies, and/or enhanced quality
- Regularly interface and build collaborative relationships with partners and professionals to champion ECC's value to the firm; and with the most senior leaders at client organizations to provide a positive first impression of the firm
- Establish credibility as a key advisor by providing advice and recommendations to significantly improve client service based on in-depth understanding of client's long-term business needs; assess and mitigate professional practice/regulatory risks/issues associated with terms, provide insights and guidance on intellectual property protection issues, and provide insights and advice to enable leadership decisions on key terms
- Provide active coaching, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing with junior staff to advance their career development; and manage and review those team members' work product; contribute to planning for short-term needs, i.e., projects and processes; construct annual plan for deployment of those resources; may have people management responsibility for a mid-sized to small team of entry level through intermediate level professionals
Qualifications
- Minimum ten years of recent extensive experience in contract management, procurement, and/or deal desk leading negotiation of complex contracts and overseeing a team of contract management professionals, preferably in the professional services industry in Federal, SLG or commercial contracting domains
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university; master's degree preferred
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent programs, applying expertise to make concrete decisions that impact the firm; understanding of and ability to advocate for leading contract lifecycle management practices, with an interest and acumen for understanding legal matters
- Exceptional verbal/written communication, collaboration, negotiation, and influencing skills to lead an environment driven by customer service and teamwork; ability to direct, motivate and empower others to work towards the organization's goals, ensuring efficient allocation of resources across multiple functions; ensure execution of strategic initiatives for the organization; ability to address emerging opportunities and how organization should be organized/staffed to realize them
- Certified in Contract Management, such as NCMA preferred

Compensation and Benefits
KPMG follows salary transparency practices. California Salary Range: $155,000 - $311,000.
