We’ve partnered with a respected national wealth management firm to find their next Managing Director, Wealth & Estate Strategy . This is a high-visibility executive role leading advanced planning and wealth strategy for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients across a nationwide advisor network. The Managing Director will design and lead the firm’s advanced planning platform , bringing together estate, tax, trust, insurance, philanthropy, and investment planning (including alternatives) into a cohesive solution that advisors can deliver directly to clients. This leader will be both the firm’s go-to expert on complex planning matters and the manager of a growing team , working closely with investment, product, due diligence, and compliance groups.
Responsibilities
- Program Leadership – Build and refine the firm’s advanced planning offering, including service models, pricing, and adoption metrics.
- Advisor Consulting – Partner with advisors nationwide on complex HNW/UHNW cases; provide resources, playbooks, and training.
- Technical Authority – Lead advanced strategies such as GRATs, SLATs, IDGTs, business succession, and philanthropic planning.
- Integrate Alternatives – Work with investment teams to incorporate private equity, hedge funds, real assets, and SMAs/UMAs into plans.
- Team Development – Manage and mentor a small team of planners, scaling as demand grows.
- Compliance Alignment – Ensure planning guidance aligns with SEC fiduciary obligations, Reg BI, and evolving tax and legal standards.
Qualifications
- CFP required ; CFA, CPWA, or CEP highly valued
- JD strongly preferred
- 10+ years advising HNW/UHNW households
- Expertise in estate, tax, insurance, philanthropy, and investments
- Strong knowledge of alternative investments and their tax/liquidity considerations
- Proven leadership in building programs and managing planning teams
- Executive presence and ability to simplify complex strategies for advisors and clients
