Job Title: Med/Tele/PCU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days EOW, Days, First to Float Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: PCU experience, ability to read strips Description: This position is for a Med/Tele/PCU RN in a stepdown unit. The unit includes 32 beds with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:4-5, occasional 5-6 on nights. PCU level care may overflow on the unit with a ratio of 1:3. Common diagnoses include adult and geriatric patients with cardiac conditions, ETOH, Covid Bipap, and general surgical history. Experience with tele/cardiac nursing and Epic is preferred. This role requires the ability to titrate drips including Amio, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, and Lasix. RNs will read and interpret telemetry strips. Charge nurses are present on each shift and may take a light patient load. There will be nurse aids or patient care techs on the unit with a goal ratio of 1:10. RNs will troubleshoot ventilators, Bipap, and other respiratory equipment as needed. Shifts follow a 7a-7p and 7p-7a rotation. Weekend requirements include every other weekend. Holiday requirements will also be every other holiday. Floating may be required to other areas as needed. Scrubs of any color can be worn on the unit. Additional unit-specific orientation will be provided. This unit primarily specializes in telemetry and cardiac care. Candidates must adhere to a radius rule of 50 miles. Requests for time off should be submitted in advance. The cancellation policy includes four shifts per contract, or three shifts for contracts under 13 weeks.
