Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) who is responsible for performing analyses on blood and other body fluids to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Under the direction of supervisors, the successful candidate will maintain proficiency in all clinical laboratory departments and ensure accurate and timely performance of assigned work. Minimum Requirements: - Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.- Experience: No previous experience required.- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain effective rapport with diverse hospital departments, medical staff, patients, and visitors.- License/Certification/Registration: Must hold certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) with ASCP, AMT, NCCLS, or equivalent certification. Alternatively, certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) is required. Supervision Received: Receives general supervision from the Medical Director, Manager, Supervisors, and Section Heads. No supervision given. Essential Functions: - Accurately and efficiently perform assigned duties according to established procedures.- Utilize proper techniques and equipment in specimen processing.- Prepare specimens for processing by verifying patient information and ensuring correct testing as ordered.- Process and analyze all specimens using manual or automated methods to determine qualitative or quantitative results.- Ensure all quality control criteria are met prior to releasing any reports.- Maintain organized work to minimize errors and review results for accuracy before reporting.- Seek assistance from supervisors when challenges in identification, interpretation, or processing occur.- Assist in training technical personnel and participate in proficiency testing and quality assurance activities.- Maintain current knowledge of laboratory and hospital policies, demonstrating compliance with safety and quality assurance procedures.- Maintain and troubleshoot departmental equipment and supplies, ensuring proper functionality at all times. Non-Essential Functions: - Perform related and miscellaneous duties as assigned.- Assist coworkers and volunteer for additional assignments as needed.
