Overview WSP is currently initiating a search for a full-time
Staff Tunnel/Geotechnical Engineer
for our
San Francisco, CA office . WSP USA operates with a hybrid-workplace model. Be involved in projects with our Geotechnical & Tunneling National Business Line Team and contribute to a rapidly expanding group that meets clients’ objectives and challenges.
Your Impact
Perform geotechnical analysis and design of foundations, embankments/cuts, tunnels, support of excavations, and earth retaining systems.
Prepare geotechnical memoranda, data and design reports.
Assist with preparation of engineering design plans and specifications, estimate quantities for cost estimates, and design documentation.
Provide geotechnical support during construction.
Conduct field inspection of geotechnical construction.
Conduct geotechnical investigations and develop laboratory testing programs.
Who You Are Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
1-2 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering
Educational background and interest in tunneling and geotechnical engineering
Good verbal and written communication skills
Knowledgeable of 2D and 3D finite element geotechnical modeling
Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software (i.e., MS Office, AutoCAD, Python, numerical modeling software, and MATLAB)
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical Engineering focus
Experience on tunnel and underground transportation projects
Experience using commercially available geotechnical software (Ensoft, Bentley, Rocscience, Itasca, GeoMotions)
Ability and willingness to travel for field work

Expected Salary:
$90,000 - $110,000
