This classification is a safety-sensitive position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations and/or the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act. As a safety-sensitive classification, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana certification will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:
This is a non-exempt clerical position. The incumbent employee, under general supervision, is responsible for, among other tasks/duties, collecting water utility payments, establishing new and updating accounts, and providing information concerning customer services. Work varies little and requires limited individual judgment within well-defined procedures and standards. Job descriptions may be modified based on City needs and employees may be required to perform functions beyond those described below and employees are "at will employees" in that either party may terminate the employment relationship."
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Collects and processes payments for installation fees, deposits, water utilities or other city bills or charges from customers; processes returned checks; Establishes new customer accounts, prepares work orders for meter issues, service connections and disconnects; Communicates with citizens and other City employees by telephone, email and/or in person exchanging necessary information regarding accounts, service complaints and other concerns; Performs a variety of clerical duties, including composing correspondence, completing forms, and posting information; Maintains, reviews, and makes customer agreements for payment of utility bills; Reviews and generates delinquent and cut-off lists, seeks to collect on final accounts; and Performs other duties as may be assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school education or equivalent; Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver's License; Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task; One year of general office/clerical experience in receiving and accounting for money and a high degree of public contact; One year of Customer Service experience; and Must be bondable. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior experience or training in accounting or business and computer skills. SUPERVISION REQUIRED: Works under general supervision of the Customer Service Supervisor

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL HAZARDS:
Employee works in an office environment and uses, among other things, a desk top computer, adding machine, telephone, and copier. Employee is occasionally required to bend, stoop and twist when maintaining files. Employee may be required to walk up and down stairs. Some lifting is required, usually up to at least 25 pounds, but maybe required to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion. Working in a non-smoking environment. May be exposed to irate citizens.
