Together with our customers, we drive innovations that are imperative to advancing national security.To help achieve these efforts, Stratolaunch is seeking a level II, Sr-, or Staff-level Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer to support air-launched hypersonic vehicle platform systems. This position will include collaborating with other system owners to understand test requirements and operations support needs for multiple test ranges. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESContribute to instrumentation, network, & telemetry (data) system requirements development, architecture design, testing, & operation for local and extended range missionsSupport flight operations by ensuring data system assets are prepared for flight testSupport the selection of and harness design for new sensors, data acquisition units, computers, network switches, and other equipmentManage and configure the aircraft instrumentation system to provide real time data for mission monitoring as well as logged data for post-flight analysisSupport the development and maintenance of software tools as required, including configuration management, simulation, deployment, and analysis toolsDetermine, document, and manage subsystem requirements for each new configurationDevelop and support instrumentation, network, & telemetry tests as requiredSupport integration testing such as power checks, sensor calibration, and equipment checkoutCollaborate with design engineers, network engineers, and technicians as required to accomplish goalsPrepare data system material to present at design reviews and flight readiness reviews and in post operation reviewsDemonstrate honesty, responsibility, integrity, and fulfillment of commitmentsQUALIFICATIONS & SKILLSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Required Qualifications:Experience in Instrumentation, Telemetry, or Network engineering in an operational or regulated test environmentExperience with Ethernet networking and familiarity with TCP, UDP, multicasting, etc.Experience with integrating data acquisition instrumentation (Analog, discrete, and digital protocols such as ARINC 429, etc) from distributed systems with mission control softwareKnowledgeable with RF devices such as transmitters, receivers, encoders/decoders, or similarExperience with data acquisition systems and dataloggersExperience writing system requirementsExcellent written & verbal communicationAbility to acquire and maintain a security clearancePreferred Qualifications:Flight test program instrumentation system experienceExperience designing & manufacturing aircraft harnessesAircraft and/or launch vehicle development experienceExperience with configuring and monitoring RF telemetry components for end-to-end testing (encode, transmit, receive, decode)Knowledge of IRIG 106 CH4, Ch 10, CH 7 or other telemetry standardsHands-on aircraft build, piloting, and flight test experienceExperience with requirements management tools such as JAMA or DoorsMission Control Room console experienceActive TS/SCI security clearanceRequired Computer Skills:Expertise with at least one programming languages, including but not limited to C/C++/C#, PythonFamiliarity with continuous integration toolchains such as Jenkins or BambooExperience with source control systems such as gitProficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Visio)Preferred Computer Skills:Experience with relational, document and time-series databasesExperience with Curtiss-Wright or Safran Data Acquisition UnitsExperience with continuous integration toolchains such as Jenkins or BambooExperience using UEI programmable automation controllersExperience with NI LabVIEW and NI DAQmxEDUCATION & EXPERIENCELevel II ($98100-$142,000): Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 2-5 years of engineering experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experienceSr Level ($117,000-153,500): Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 5-10 years of engineering experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experienceStaff Level ($152,500-$200,000): Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 10-20 years of engineering experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experienceSpecial remarks regarding work environment, if applicablePosition on-site based in Mojave, CATravel, as needed, to support the department.
