Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney - Asheville, NC Job Overview: A well-established law firm based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented attorney to join its Workers' Compensation legal team. This opportunity is ideal for professionals with early career experience who are interested in a dynamic litigation environment. Duties: Review new case assignments to develop litigation strategy, budget projections, and recommendations Analyze and determine necessary pleadings, assigning tasks to support staff where appropriate Draft and respond to discovery, manage production, and filings Participate in depositions, hearings, and similar proceedings, delivering timely summaries and updates Lead settlement negotiations, secure case authority, and prepare for trial as needed Maintain open and frequent communication with paralegals and legal assistants throughout the case lifecycle Requirements: 1-5 years of legal experience, preferably in Workers’ Compensation or related litigation Active license to practice law in North Carolina Demonstrated ability to manage multiple matters efficiently with minimal oversight Strong organizational skills and close attention to procedural and factual detail Capable of working effectively in a deadline-driven, high-volume environment Education: Juris Doctor from an accredited law school Certifications: Active Bar Admission in North Carolina (mandatory) Skills: Excellent interpersonal and client service capabilities Comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite; openness to legal tech platforms and database tools Strong written and verbal advocacy Self-starter with a collaborative mindset Job Location: The hybrid work model is available Paid parental leave Leadership development and mentorship programs Full suite of health and wellness insurance Casual office attire policy Resources for mental well-being Employee affinity groups supporting diversity, opportunity, and inclusion Company info DescriptionHumana is a $90 billion (Fortune 40) market leader in integrated healthcare with a clearly defined purpose to help people achieve lifelong well-being.
