Our client is a diversified, privately held construction and fabrication group with multiple business lines, including steel structure fabrication, crane solder/repair, fine metal art, truck repair and sales, and real estate holdings. Generating approximately $10 million in annual revenue with operations across Putnam, Westchester, and NYC, the company is poised for aggressive growth, with plans to double in size within the near future.

Position Overview Our client is seeking a highly capable and hands-on

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

with deep construction industry or industry adjacent knowledge (project accounting & POC experience highly preferred). The CFO will be a key strategic partner to ownership, driving financial strategy, implementing scalable systems, and strengthening cash flow management to support the company’s ambitious growth goals.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work directly with ownership on both high-level strategy and day-to-day financial operations, in an environment with significant upside potential and operational complexity across multiple entities.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as a strategic business partner to ownership, driving financial strategy to support doubling revenue growth goals.

Oversee all finance and accounting operations across five entities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and integration.

Implement and improve budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management processes.

Consolidate and streamline accounting systems (currently multiple QuickBooks files) into a more scalable and transparent financial platform.

Manage relationships with banks, auditors, and external accounting/tax firms.

Monitor and improve project profitability, using construction-specific methods such as job costing and POC accounting.

Establish and track KPIs to drive operational efficiency and margin improvement.

Provide timely and actionable financial reporting to support decision-making.

Partner with operations and business development leaders to assess risk, prioritize bids, and optimize capital allocation.

Ensure strong internal controls and safeguard company assets.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.

10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including CFO or senior finance roles.

Proven experience in construction or related industries (steel structure fabrication preferred).

Strong knowledge of project accounting and POC revenue recognition.

Experience managing multi-entity structures and consolidations.

Track record of improving cash flow & implementing scalable financial systems.

Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Exceptional communication, leadership, and business partnering skills.
