Director of Tax

to lead and oversee our tax function across a diverse set of entities including corporations, LLCs, partnerships, and individual ownership interests. The Director of Tax is responsible for overseeing all tax planning, compliance, and reporting activities for the company’s packing, farming and real estate operations. This includes both cash and accrual basis taxpayers across multiple entities and ownership structures. The successful candidate will manage a small in-house tax team, coordinate with external advisors, and serve as a strategic partner in managing risk and optimizing tax outcomes for the business and its owners. Responsibilities

Lead and manage all tax functions for the organization including income, property, sales/use, and other applicable taxes. Oversee preparation and review of federal and state tax returns for corporations, partnerships, LLCs, and individuals. Develop and implement tax planning strategies to support business operations and long-term goals. Provide strategic tax planning and compliance support for estate and succession planning Drive continuous improvement and efficiency through the use of current tax and accounting technologies (e.g., workflow automation, data analytics tools, dashboards). Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and filing deadlines. Maintain detailed knowledge of changes in tax regulations and proactively assess their impact. Provide tax guidance and support on business transactions, including entity restructuring, acquisitions, and real estate development activities. Coordinate and manage external tax advisors, consultants, and auditors as needed. Supervise and mentor tax staff, ensuring ongoing development and performance. Work collaboratively with finance, legal, and operations teams on tax-related matters. Support CFO with tax provision and financial reporting implications. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s in Taxation preferred). 7+ years of progressive tax experience, with at least 2 years at the manager level in public accounting or a private company. Strong experience with entity-level and individual tax compliance and planning. Demonstrated expertise in both cash and accrual basis taxpayers. Thorough understanding of FAS 109 Experience in agriculture or real estate industries a plus. Strong analytical and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
