Job Summary Langan is seeking a
Geotechnical Project Engineer
to join its collaborative team in
Chicago, IL . This role provides geotechnical engineering expertise through analysis and design, supports project management and staff supervision, and interfaces with clients. You will have the opportunity to partner cross-functionally on both small-scale and large-scale geotechnical projects. Responsibilities Perform complex analyses, structural design of pile elements and underpinning systems, and special engineering inspections; Prepare technical documents and manage proposals, reports, construction documents, and construction-related correspondence; Supervise field investigations and conventional earthwork and foundation construction activities; Manage multiple projects within budgets and schedules; plan, develop budgets; prepare progress reports, change orders, invoices, and project billings; Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering; Masters degree with Geotechnical emphasis preferred; Professional Engineer licensure; 6+ years of related Geotechnical experience; 3+ years of field experience with geotechnical investigations and construction observation including mass grading, deep foundations, subgrades, ground improvement, excavation support with tiebacks, and testing; Experience in preparing technical reports, specifications, construction plans, geotechnical recommendations; writing proposals; managing projects and clients; mentoring staff; Strong understanding of codes and regulatory requirements; Knowledge of quantitative/technical analyses and related software; Entrepreneurial, professional demeanor with strong written, verbal, and presentation skills; Desire and ability to seek new business opportunities and develop additional clients while managing workload; Ability to coach and assist with staff management; Ability to collaborate with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies; strong interpersonal skills; Reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits; valid drivers license in good standing.
Compensation and Benefits
Langan offers a comprehensive compensation package for full-time employees, including: company-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage; life insurance; short- and long-term disability; paid leave; 401(k)/Roth with company match; paid time off; and education and professional development support. Salary range estimates are provided where required by law. The estimated salary for this role is
$90,000 $133,000 , with actual compensation varying based on experience, location, market conditions, education, credentials, and skills. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual and firm performance.
