Business Development Director

leads capture and growth efforts for research and development opportunities across the Department of Defense (DoD), focusing on Budget Activities. The role involves working closely with internal technical teams, DoD customers, and advanced government laboratories to shape opportunities, identify funding paths, and drive partnerships aligned with national security priorities. The candidate will be agile, collaborative, and results oriented. Ideal candidate will understand DoD/international operational and technical needs; requirements, budgeting, testing, and procurement processes; and business development techniques and practices. Individuals with Program Management (PM) experience and/or relationships with government cUAS PMs are preferred. Responsibilities

Identify and qualify research and advanced development opportunities across DoD agencies (e.g., DARPA, AFRL, ONR, ARL, SCO, DIU, and others). Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in government labs, program offices, and contracting authorities. Shape and influence RFI, BAA, and RFP content through early engagement with technical sponsors. Lead development of white papers, quad charts, proposals, and pitch decks tailored to 6.1–6.4 program requirements. Collaborate with internal scientists, engineers, and program managers to translate core capabilities into compelling R&D solutions. Track and analyze funding lines, technology roadmaps, and programmatic priorities across service branches and emerging innovation offices. Establish teaming relationships with prime contractors, national labs, and academia where beneficial. Basic Qualifications

Active, or ability to obtain, Secret/TS and potentially TS/SCI clearance Bachelor's degree Minimum 15 years combined experience with military operations, professional sales, capture planning, and defense requirements, advanced development and prior experience working with DoD labs and FFRDCs Minimum 5 years experience with the DoD and international (as a service member, civilian employee, contractor, or product deliverer) Minimum 3 years experience with Directed Energy systems and/or radars Minimum 3 years experience with Ground Based Air Defense and/or Uncrewed Aerial Systems Effective oral and written, two-way communication and presentation skills Preferred Skills And Experience

Master’s degree PMP certification Predilection and ability to think, anticipate, and problem solve strategically Strong analytical research, problem-solving, and presentation abilities; familiarity with software analytical tools as a basis for market research, Customer Relationship Management, and information presentations Predilection and ability to generate and sustain project support internal to the company for either continuation of efforts or new initiatives Ability to successfully achieve established performance metrics while operating independently with personal initiative, mature judgment, and limited supervision and feedback Comfort engaging customers at all echelons (all military and Government Service ranks and within operating forces, component commands, research labs, acquisition offices, service headquarters staff) Experience in identifying, shaping, and winning defense contracts (> $100M Total Contract Value) ITAR Requirements
