With two locations, Downtown YMCA and Caledonia YMCA, our Y in Lowndes County offers many health and fitness opportunities for community residents to enjoy, including an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, two indoor basketball gymnasiums, an indoor walking/running track, a wide range of fitness classes, cardio/strength equipment, and a welcoming atmosphere. The organization has grown through community support and development projects, and the Columbus YMCA building was completed and dedicated in 1931. About Our Community Columbus, MS is a historic city in Lowndes County with a strong regional presence in healthcare, education, and manufacturing. The area offers cultural, recreational, and educational opportunities and is located within a reasonable distance to several metro areas. Qualifications Accredited 4-year college degree or equivalent experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills; personal values aligned with the YMCA mission. Minimum ten years of senior management experience with a YMCA or related organization and direct supervision of multiple staff levels. Ability to develop and strengthen community relationships. Ability to develop innovative programs and evaluate their effectiveness to broaden community engagement. Strategic planning and fundraising experience, including annual campaigns and grants. Fiscally sound business management approach and progressive budget leadership. YMCA Organizational Leader Certification or ability to obtain within 3 years. Essential Functions Key Roles The board seeks a seasoned leader who will excel in fiscal management, fundraising, operating performance, staff development, strategic planning, and community partnership building. Key areas include: Fiscal Management : Lead financial analysis, forecasting, and stewardship; guide staff to maintain balanced or surplus operations. Fundraising : Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan; lead capital and annual campaigns and endowment initiatives. Operating Performance : Develop and execute an annual tactical plan; address issues, forecast needs, and oversee operations. Staff Development : Build a culture of talent development, inclusion, and accountability. Strategic Plan : Collaborate with volunteers and staff to create and implement a measurable strategic plan. Community Partnership : Serve as an ambassador for the YMCA within the community and cultivate diverse stakeholder relationships. Salary, Benefits, & Criteria Salary Range: $85,000-$100,000 annually Benefits: Medical insurance and voluntary benefits; 8% retirement contribution; generous PTO and leave; free memberships and discounts on YMCA programs. Residency Expectation The CEO is expected to be highly engaged and visible in the service area; living in the YMCA's service area is required.
