Asset Management - Alternatives Product Development - Executive Director J.P. Morgan Asset Management is seeking an individual to join its Product Development team in support of J.P. Morgan Private Capital. The role focuses on private capital initiatives within the Alternatives group and requires collaboration with investment leads and senior business stakeholders to accelerate the build-out of Private Capital. The ideal candidate will be passionate about private markets, including venture and growth equity strategies, and will work across Private Capital on key initiatives including downstream investment activities, fund and managed account launches, and governance-related matters affecting investment functions.

Role Summary J.P. Morgan Private Capital’s mission is to invest in growth equity and life sciences private equity opportunities. It sponsors closed-end funds with substantial AUM and has deployed capital into numerous portfolio companies. This is a dynamic, high-profile position on the Alternatives Product Development team for a multi-billion dollars alternative investment platform. The team values technical skill, work ethic, collegiality, and a constructive company culture.

Responsibilities

Regularly review and advise on downstream investment activities and related portfolio company transactions, including related documentation (NDAs, term sheets, stock purchase agreements, asset purchase agreements, due diligence materials, financing agreements, management agreements, disclosure schedules and other closing documents).

Oversee and coordinate with outside law firms on investment activity, including selection, budgeting, and related activities in coordination with JPM Legal.

Review and advise on the preparation of documents for fund and managed account launches, co-investments and other investment management activities; participate in closing and operation of vehicles.

Coordinate significant product structuring and transaction issues with internal stakeholders (Alternatives Legal, Corporate Tax, Bank Regulatory Legal, Compliance, and others).

Support business reviews for Private Capital and provide updates to senior management.

Support project management across business process projects and the operational build-out of new product initiatives.

Support governance bodies for Private Capital (e.g., Independent Boards and Investment Committees).

Assist in developing business process specifications and control/documentation, including key procedures for the business.

Assist with internal audits and compliance exams.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience as a licensed attorney in a law firm or financial institution handling corporate transactions.

Qualified attorney.

Experience moving from a legal adviser role to leading and completing projects in a high-growth business (especially if transitioning from law firm to in-house).

Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills to coordinate within a large, multi-faceted organization.

Strong analytical, project management, and process-improvement skills with attention to detail.

Ability to build strong working relationships and influence a wide range of stakeholders, including executive management.

Willingness to wear many hats and transition between roles as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Education, experience, or certification in a complementary discipline (e.g., CFA, CAIA, tax, MBA) is a plus.

Exposure to the asset management industry is a plus.
