We are looking for a dynamic CFO to join our fast-growing team to work with multiple clients providing fractional CFO services. You will partner with both client and ScaleUp personnel to support a broad range of industries to help clients succeed in their goals and growth. We are seeking candidates with CPG (apparel, beauty, food, supplements) experience to support our growing practice in this area.

Responsibilities

Serve as a trusted advisor to clients providing insight, recommendations and solutions

Manage multiple clients and accounting staff on those clients to ensure finance and accounting functions are completed in the desired timelines and financial reporting is produced in accordance with the client needs

Work with client to team to design and produce required reporting including financial statements, KPI tracking, investor and board reporting and budget to actual reporting

Prepare and maintain financial models, forecasts and cash flow models

Evaluate and recommend reporting and data analysis that would provide additional transparency for decision making

Oversee GAAP accounting

Ensure accounting processes and policies are documented

Advise clients on business strategy including capital planning and fundraising, pricing, margins, execution, corporate structure, tax planning, HR policies and stock issuance

Partner with Client team during fundraising process providing input to presentations, negotiating term sheets, modeling pro forma cap tables and responding to due diligence

Assist in M&A activity including buy and sell-side due diligence, exit planning and negotiation of terms

Prepare various ad-hoc reports as required by client

Work with tax advisors to ensure compliance and filings are completed

Produce financial reports in various formats and views as required by the client

Coordinate the year-end close process with external auditors if needed

Assist with training staff as needed

Manage accounting and other integrated systems

Prepare variance analysis

Manage relationships with banks and other third parties as needed

Other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications

10+ years of finance and accounting experience with a minimum of 7 years as a CFO

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business or relevant experience

CPA and MBA preferred

Strong knowledge of GAAP

Experience working with CPG and SaaS industries highly preferred with a broad range of industry experience desired

Experience working with start-ups and venture backed companies

Expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, KPIs and FP&A

Preferred experience working in a client facing, billable hour environment, managing multiple clients/engagements

Excellent communication skills with the ability to prioritize and work across different teams

Advanced working knowledge of QBO and Excel is required, preferred experience working with Bill.com and Gusto and ability to learn and use new software systems

Experience with Wholesale, DTC and E-Comm and related systems preferred (Amazon, Shopify)

Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management

Experience with M&A transactions is a plus

Strategic thinker and solution oriented with a roll-up your sleeves mentality

Experience working across the C-Suite, in the board room and with investors

Experience working in a fractions role, highly preferred

Colorado, Arizona, Washington and Texas based candidates highly preferred

This is a part-time position of 10-20 hours a week that can grow into a full-time position of approximately 35 hours a week, if you desire full-time hours.

Compensation Our compensation model is designed so you share in the success of the firm. You are compensated on a commission basis where we pass through a percentage of collected billings to you. As a CFO your commission will work out to be between $150 and $160 per hour. We have a full set of benefits for full-time employees including health, dental, medical, 401k and PTO.
