Principal Process Mechanical / Wastewater Engineer

with 10 years of experience to join our Resilience Water Team in Tampa, Florida. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated engineer to join our team locally with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. The candidate will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge to lead design efforts, mentor engineers, and successfully execute projects. It provides an exciting opportunity for an ideal candidate to leverage their experience and relationships to help build and grow our water practice in the Florida region. Role accountabilities Lead and manage project delivery within the municipal Water / Wastewater market of the region; lead wastewater treatment process and mechanical design projects and help build strong client relationships; work with project managers and area managers to determine needs and provide solutions. Provide leadership, technical knowledge and experience to develop design team capabilities; serve as design manager and lead project tasks, including planning, design, permitting, construction documents and permit applications, and construction oversight for both new construction and rehabilitation work. Lead preparation of detailed engineering calculations and analyses; utilize design software as needed to solve complex issues. Manage and lead condition assessment evaluations for wastewater system assets including treatment facilities, pipelines and pump/lift stations using a variety of approaches and technologies. Develop scope, delivery schedules and project budgets for each assignment. Work directly with project managers and area managers to determine needs and provide solutions; participate, as needed, in the preparation of winning proposals and successful presentations. Strengthen client relationships through professionalism and technical expertise in all client meetings. Supervise and mentor junior engineers and design/drafting staff. Ensure project compliance with Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards. Travel (up to 20%) may be required to conduct project meetings, site visits, client meetings, or to oversee construction activities, depending on project needs.

Qualifications & Experience Required Qualifications

At least 10 years of experience in wastewater treatment and design, including experience leading design projects and managing multi-disciplinary design teams. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering, or a related field; Professional Engineer (PE) License in Florida.

Key Skills / Attributes

Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to prepare, review, and approve project drawings, specifications, schedules, cost estimates, permit applications, RFIs, as-built drawings, and other design and construction documents. Strong client relationship skills with a proven track record of delivering projects that meet client expectations. Ability to manage and mentor junior engineers and design/drafting staff; collaborative team leadership. Commitment to quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

More than 15 years of experience in engineering and consulting, with a primary focus on the wastewater municipal market. Experience with design, permitting, and construction of water and wastewater treatment systems, as well as distribution, conveyance, and pumping and storage facilities in Florida. Masters degree in Mechanical, Environmental, or Civil Engineering; active participation in regional or national professional associations is highly desirable.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $113,933 - $193,686/year.
