Intake Counselor at
BayMark Health Services
— Seeking a compassionate substance abuse counselor to support patients through treatment and recovery in a outpatient setting.
Morning Hours:
5:00 AM to 1:30 PM
Position Overview The substance use counselor will assist patients through medically assisted programs and provide techniques for handling opioid addiction. The counselor conducts group and individual sessions to support crisis management and coping strategies, and evaluates patients’ progress during therapy. The counselor may collaborate with doctors, nurses, and therapists to optimize treatment outcomes.
Responsibilities
Conduct initial individual assessments and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination.
Facilitate establishment and review of each patient\'s initial treatment plan.
Complete bio-psychosocial assessments.
Provide individual and group counseling; maintain direct service hours at regularly scheduled intervals; coordinate all services throughout treatment.
Involve families and significant others in the patient\'s recovery process whenever possible.
Respond to patient grievances and complaints as needed.
Develop aftercare and discharge plans.
Perform other related duties as determined by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 2 years of individual counseling experience OR
Master’s Degree in Behavioral Science with a minimum of 1 year of individual counseling experience OR
Associate’s Degree or high school diploma with a current certification such as:
CAC (Certified Addiction Counselor)
CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor)
CADC II
LADC I (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor I)
LADC II
Experience working with chemically dependent individuals is preferred.
Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
