Day Shift Men's Inn Counselor at Pine Street Inn. 4 Positions Needed Pays $21.40 per hour DOE Location: 444 Harrison Avenue, Boston, MA (Men’s Shelter) Summary of the position

The Guest Services Specialist (GSS) works from the Pine Street Inn policy and procedures developed to ensure a safe shelter environment for guests and staff. The GSS has a primary focus on the direct care of guests and responds to guests in a timely and professional manner based on the prioritization of guests’ needs. The GSS assists with the development and implementation of a housing pathway by motivating guests to rapidly work on housing and connecting guests to appropriate resources. The GSS also assists guests in connecting with substance abuse, mental health and medical resources when the shelter cannot safely accommodate a guest’s needs. The GSS stays energized and focused even when demands are ambiguous and strenuous. The GSS enters data into the Homeless Management Information (HMIS) system and documents reports in keeping with agency policy. The GSS makes sound decisions and appropriately seeks guidance from a supervisor. Responsibilities

Provide direct care to shelter guests and respond to their needs in a timely and professional manner. Motivate guests to pursue housing opportunities and connect them with appropriate resources. Assist guests in accessing substance abuse, mental health, and medical resources when appropriate. Enter data into HMIS and document reports per agency policy. Maintain energy and focus in a demanding environment and seek supervisor guidance when needed. Details and Schedule

Schedule: 40 hours Saturday - Tuesday, 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM (2 positions) Thursday - Monday, 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM (2 positions) Lobby and guest services duties as assigned. Pay and Retention

Pay: $21.40 per hour DOE Retention payment: $3,000.00 total, with $1,000.00 payable at 12 months and $2,000.00 at 24 months Requirements

Education/Training

Required: High School diploma or GED Preferred

Valid MA driver’s license in good standing Bilingual English/Spanish Knowledge/Experience

Required

Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the Human Services field Preferred

Administering Narcan and CPR in a work setting Knowledge of addiction, recovery, and mental illness Knowledge of homelessness issues and area resources Job Details
